Newa cuisine (also referred to as Newar cuisine) is a subset of Nepalese cuisine that has developed over centuries among the Newars of Kathmandu (Kathmandu is called Yen in Nepal Bhasa) in Nepal. Newa cuisine is the most celebrated cuisine variety in the country that consists of over 200 dishes. Some of the famous newari cuisines are Samye Baji, Hakuchoila, Senla mu, Swanpuka, Bhuttan, Chatamari, Wo, Bara, Yomari, etc.
The Thakali are the people originated from the Thak Khola region of the Mustang District in Nepal. Thakali meal consists of locally grown buckwheat, barley, millet, rice, maize and dal. A kind of dal is also made from the dried, ground buckwheat leaves. Also, other special pickles, gundruk, and ghee are also included.
